3 Days Chimpanzee Tracking

Kibale’s most popular activity is the Kanyanchu Primate Walk. Thirteen species can be sought, and a good variety of diurnal monkeys invariably encountered, but the stars of this trail are the chimpanzees. Kanyanchu’s chimps have been tracked since 1993 and the chances of locating them are excellent. Guided walks start at 8am and 2pm and last an average of three hours, depending on various factors.The perennially popular primate walk provides the chance to observe chimpanzees in their natural habitat. Kanyanchu’s groups are accustomed to human presence – some have been observed for over 25 years – and the chance of locating them is over 90%. Walks leave Kanyanchu Visitor Centre at 08.00, 11.00 and 14.00 and last between 2-5 hours. Early arrival to allow for registration and briefing is recommended. Contact time with chimpanzees is limited to one hour; group size is limited to six visitors; participants must be aged 16 or over. Advance booking is essential.

Drive from Kampala in the morning and proceed to the western part of the country by passing through Mityana-Fortportal kasese road which is 290km drive that takes 5- 6hour drive to Fortportal. On reaching Fortportal, your driver will stop you for a lunch and then be transferred to Kibale forest National Park, the capital world of primates Such as chimpanzee, baboons and monkeys which is 20kms drive and to your hotel for dinner an overnight.

Take an early breakfast and then start your primate tracking adventure in the forest The park’s site guide will take you through this adventurous experience where you may be blessed with enormous encounters of various forest primates like the L’hoest, black faced colobus monkeys, baboons and other forest species. After tracking, then drive back to the hotel or continue for an overnight in Fortportal town one of Uganda’s clean and scenic town in western region.

After morning healthy breakfast, prepare for the journey back to Kampala heading to Entebbe, you will enjoy warm lunch along the way, and dinner at the hotel in Entebbe and then to the airport for departure.
